I had a lot of fun today with Build-My-Bowl Sunday! My good friend Ginny chose my bowl for me. Here’s how is all shook out!
Step 1: Choose Your Protein
Ginny Chose: Shrimp
Mike’s feelings about that choice: I like shrimp, but usually do not choose it when chicken, beef, steak, and turkey are available

Step 2: Season Your Protein
Ginny Chose: Cayenne Pepper, Ginger, Citrus Garlic Herb seasoning
Mike’s feelings about that choice: All of the seasonings are great
Step 3: Pick Your Veggies
Ginny Chose: Bamboo shoots, Cabbage, Mushrooms, Celery, Mandarin Oranges, Onions, Snap Peas, Water Chestnuts
Mike’s feelings about that choice: In order, I’ve never really had bamboo shoots, not huge on cabbage, despise mushrooms, love celery, really like oranges, like onions, like snap peas (very crunchy!), and have no idea what a water chestnut is. But Ginny chose this, and I said I would eat whatever she chose.
Step 4: Select a Sauce
Ginny Chose: Ginger Citrus Sauce
Mike’s feelings about that choice: Kinda pumped, I haven’t have that one yet!
Step 5: Call Your Starch
Ginny Chose: Brown Rice
Mike’s feelings about that choice: Good Choice
Mike’s excitement level: 10
It was quite good! I must admit, it was not what I would have chosen, but it was quite good! The water chestnuts and bamboo shoots were nice, and I will include those in future bowls! Loved the sauce and the shrimp was also very tasty! I think that all of the oranges broke in to pieces on the grill and flavored the whole thing.
